The original organizers of Northern Analytical Laboratory worked as analytical
chemists in the semiconductor, aerospace and primary metals industries.
They saw a need for a laboratory specializing in trace element analysis in solid materials.
Their many years of experience in the areas of emission, atomic absorption,
inductively coupled plasma-optical emission and spark source mass spectromertries provided
the necessary foundation, and the Laboratory opened providing these basic services.
NAL was founded in 1980 and subsequently incorporated in New Hampshire in January of
1981. The Laboratory, originally located in Amherst, NH is now in Londonderry, NH.
In 1986 NAL acquired it's first glow discharge mass spectrometer (GDMS), the most
sensitive and comprehensive technique for the analysis of trace elements in solid
materials. (We now have three).
Combustion equipment for the analysis of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur (in
solids) was added in 1995, and in 1999 inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICPMS)
was also added.
LOOKING AHEAD - OUR MISSION STATEMENT
NAL, as a small independent, commercial, analytical services laboratory is obligated
to provide our customers with reliable analyses, quickly and at a fair and competitive
Our commitment to rigid quality control procedures assures a reliable analysis. Our size
and independence allows us to work directly with our customers to provide the required
turn-around time at an affordable price.
NAL is willing to invest in it's future and yours by obtaining the latest equipment and
using the newest proven techniques to provide the best analysis possible.
